Y6 Adventure at PGL

Year 6 headed to Caythorpe for some much-deserved fun after their hard work in SATS.

Year 6 Residential Trip to Caythorpe PGL

Our Year 6 residential trip to Caythorpe PGL was an unforgettable adventure filled with excitement, challenges, and plenty of laughter. We set off with bags packed (with some clothes but mainly sweets) full of anticipation, ready for two nights of fun and friendship.

Arrival and First Impressions

As soon as we arrived at Caythorpe, we were greeted by the friendly PGL staff who guided us to our accommodation. We were all buzzing with excitement as we quickly settled into our rooms, eager to explore the site and start our activities. After a hearty lunch, we dove straight into the action with our first activities

Climbing Wall and Abseiling

The climbing wall was a test of our courage and strength. We strapped on our harnesses, tightened our helmets, and took turns scaling the heights. Some of us felt a bit nervous at first, but the cheers and encouragement from our friends helped us reach the top. The thrill of reaching however high we dared go and looking down at our classmates was a proud moment for all of us.

Next, we faced the challenge of abseiling. The initial step over the edge was daunting, but once we got the hang of it, descending the wall became an exhilarating experience. By the end of the day, we were all keen to share our sense of accomplishment.

Team Building and Sensory Trail

The second day was packed with activities that tested our teamwork and resilience. In the morning, we tackled the raft-building challenge. Working together, we gathered barrels, planks, and ropes to construct our rafts. It was a test of our problem-solving skills and cooperation, and after much effort and a few splashes, we managed to create rafts that could float. Paddling out onto the water, we laughed and cheered, celebrating our success and teamwork.

In the afternoon, we embarked on the sensory trail. This activity required us to navigate a course blindfolded, relying on our other senses and the guidance of our teammates. It was a unique experience that taught us the importance of trust and communication. We stumbled and laughed our way through the trail, emerging with a stronger bond and greater appreciation for each other.

Evenings and Free Time

Our evenings at Caythorpe were just as enjoyable as the daytime activities. The food was delicious, with a variety of meals that kept us energized and satisfied. After dinner, we had free time to play outside, making the most of the beautiful surroundings. Whether it was a game of football, exploring the grounds, or just chatting with friends, we took every opportunity to enjoy ourselves.

Of course, staying up late was part of the fun. Despite our best efforts to keep the noise down, we might have woken the teachers a few times with our late-night giggles and chatter. But it was all part of the experience, creating memories that we would cherish forever.

Our residential trip to Caythorpe PGL was a fantastic experience that brought us closer together and taught us valuable lessons about courage, teamwork, and friendship. From climbing walls and abseiling to building rafts and navigating sensory trails, every moment was filled with fun and adventure. We returned home tired but happy, with stories to tell.
