“If you were an engineer what would you do?” returns to Woodston!
Last year, one of our year 1 pupils won this competition...can we bring it home again in 2025?
During the week beginning 24th February, we will be taking part in “If you were an engineer what would you do?”. This is a competition which many schools enter, and we were so proud that one of last year's winners was one of Woodston's own.
In this competition, pupils identify a problem in the world around them that they want to solve. It could be something linked to the children, e.g. about not brushing their teeth, or littering around Woodston, or it could be a larger global issue, e.g. global warming or litter in the oceans.
They come up with a creative solution to that problem and illustrate and annotate their idea, along with writing a persuasive letter to an engineer. Mrs Pucilowska will then collect all of the entries and send them off to be judged!
The professional engineers will read every single submission and the winner’s work will be displayed at public exhibitions!
This competition brings engineering into the classroom as children have the opportunity to interview an engineer either through pre-recorded videos or in a live online interview.
It will be a fascinating project for the children, and a chance to flex creative and design muscles! Good luck everyone!
