Vikings Invade Woodston!
Year 4 children became Viking Warriors for the day!
On the 22nd May, Year 4 had a Viking experience day when they were tasked with dressing up like a Viking. Additionally, six Vikings from a local clan attended Woodston Primary School. We had three different talks. The first was about Viking home life where we were shown horns and different equipment. The second was about illnesses and medicine and someone had their hand chopped off (in the traditional Viking manner of course!). The third talk was about weapons and armour where we were shown more than 10 different types!
After breaktime, we completed a fun Viking quiz and wordsearch written in Viking runes. Next, we had to design a Viking shield with different patterns and colours. In the afternoon, the Vikings had a great battle. Lots of tiny sparks came off their swords and axes as they clashed. It was very loud! We also had a delectable feast.
“It was an interesting and fun experience where I learnt more about the Vikings.” Pranavi
“I found the day fun because we saw how Vikings fight and it was enjoyable learning about how people lived in that time.” Omar
“I enjoyed seeing the history come to life!” Evelyn
