Year 6 Maths Challenge!

Year 6 showcase their mathematical skills and talents!

On Thursday 26th September, four children from Year 6 attended Laxton Junior School to participate in a Mathematics Challenge. As they arrived, the nerves were present with the children wondering about the difficulty and the structure of the challenge. After the initial briefing, the children were split into two pairs and their excitement began to grow! They were informed they had eight minutes to solve a series of problems before moving onto the next. It was impressive to see the focus of the students within the room as soon as the timer started! They worked together to discuss how to approach the problem and then troubleshooted throughout to answer the questions. As a result of their hard work, they were treated to a delicious chocolate cookie at the end of the afternoon!

The children always say it best...

"The trip was very entertaining as we competed in a variety of maths games. There were many schools there. My favourite part was that we got tasty cookies."

"The trip was really exciting. It was a great experience and the cookies tasted good too.".

"I'd like to thank Miss Hobday and my teachers for giving us this opportunity to attend a quiz at Laxton Junior . I was really excited when I was invited to attend. Laxton Junior School had many learning resources and was quite large. I really like the way they tested our skills through maths puzzles."
