First Class at First Aid
Nurturing the best in our staff so that they can do great things!
We are very proud of our staff and the lengths they go to in order to ensure that our children have the best possible education and care during their time in school. To help us meet this commitment, all the staff have recently refreshed their first aid training under the professional guidance of Rose O'Brien.
We were reassured to hear that "anyone can administer first aid to anyone" and you don't need any special certificate or training to do this. However, staff at Woodston have ensured they have the skills to do this with confidence by learning how to administer CPR, and deal with minor injuries. They also had a demo of the defibrillator that is kept in school in case of emergencies.
The session was practical and engaging and whilst we hope not to have to put much of it into use, at least if we do, we know we are well-equipped to do this effectively. Next time the staff meet, this will be a Trust meeting at Nene Valley to learn more about Children's Mental Health and well-being. Our upskilling in the area of health will continue in early May when we will receive further professional development in the specific areas of asthma and anaphylaxis.
We constantly invest in the ongoing development of staff to give them confidence in a wide range of areas and hope that the families who work with us feel reassured by the high importance we place on this.
